Listening to the Past

The brand identity of 87 Foundation was centered around understanding Denver’s history. The goal of the organization was to preserve the Denver’s most iconic spots that gave the city its reputation for generating talented musicians and providing venues to allow artists to grow.

The client wanted an identify that felt established, elevated yet contemporary. The identity needed to be taken seriously without being stuffy.

Pulling inspiration from archive records, old publications, and historic jazz halls, the brand was centered around clean lines, tasteful illustrations, and subtle nods to the El Chapultepec, the iconic, Denver based jazz club.

The branding need to contain multitudes with logos variations being applied to digital platforms to printed collateral, formal invitation for donors to street posters. The identity needed to be contain the duality, both the past and the future.
